The portfolio Opus Exposure reveals, in photographic chapters, work reflecting landscapes, patterns and stories recorded all over the globe, spontaneous, as was. Exposures triggered by undefined flares of curiosity.

Pleisto  -  Landscapes with stratovolcanoes that were active in the Pleistocene epoch.

Marchan - Self-regulating ecosystems. Forests with dead trees that feed fungi and insects, animate producers, consumers, decomposers like plants, mosses, fungi and animal life. Banquets really!

Colour Cuba - SitPho-s that tell Caribbean tales in the colourful Cuban language.

Performance - They are well prepared and entertaining. SitPho-s that show dedication and skill.

Downtown  -  Urban landscapes, structures, daily life details and SitPho-s.

Still Life - When time takes hold of materials that seem indestructible, when details receive unintentional attention and come to life, when nature takes over indifferently.

Grande Calilegua - Biotope at rest, dry, patiently waiting in autumn.

Light on Istanbul / Exhibition - What the sun shows us. It's there. But we only see it briefly. Colourful, a shadow, a contour against the light. We see it briefly and move on. The sun showed me Istanbul. It's there. Just a minute. It was colourful, with shadow from the sun, a contour in backlight. I saw it briefly, captured it. The sun showed me Istanbul. Here it is. Light on Istanbul.

Photographer Martien Heeremans discovered the play of light and shadow, and what they can do to a subject, often only for a short moment. This is how Martien Heeremans started a search for the figurations that surprise him. He allows landscapes, spatial patterns and structures, but also people, to play a leading role in his photographic work.

‘The rhythm of lines and patterns in an image can fascinate me, endlessly. But I also like to listen to the intriguing story a SitPho tells me, again and again.’

SitPho, short for ‘situational photograph’, a photo taken from a situation that occurred spontaneous, on the spot.

A sitpho is a photographic instillment of a spontaneous, not staged or directed, situation hosting persons in a backdrop of some sort. The instilled situation is thought provoking; What will happen next? Or, what roles are in play for the persons in the scene.
